In February 2020, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 600,7 million with a 1,1 % year-on-year decrease. The total import of goods increased by 2,1 % to EUR 6 527,7 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the value of EUR 73 million (by EUR 208,6 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January and February 2020, compared with the corresponding period last year, the total export of goods decreased by 1,5 % to EUR 13 204,4 million and the total import increased by 0,8 % to EUR 13 078 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 126,4 million (by EUR 306,7 million lower than in the corresponding period in last year).
In January and February 2020, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the EU Member States decreased by 0,1 % and it represented 79,4 % of the total export. Import from the EU Member States represented 66,9 % of the total import and it rose by 4,6 %, year-on-year.
In January and February 2020, compared with the corresponding period in 2019, export to the non-EU Member States decreased by 6,6 % and it represented 20,6 % of the total export. Import from the non-EU Member States represented 33,1 % of the total import and it decreased by 6,2 %, year-on-year.
In the foreign trade of the SR, the most traded SITC section was Machinery and transport equipment with a share of 63,1 % of the total export and 50,5 % of the total import.
In February 2020, after seasonal adjustment, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 821,6 million with a year-on-year increase by 0,3 %. The total import of goods decreased by 0,2 % to EUR 6 620,3 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 201,3 million (by EUR 32,5 million higher than in
February 2019).
