Development of consumer prices in June 2019

In June compared with May, consumer prices increased by 0,1 % in total.  Prices rose in the divisions of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,6 %; recreation and culture; miscellaneous goods and services equally by 0,4 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance equally by 0,2 %, clothing and footwear; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel; health equally by 0,1 %. Prices of transport dropped by 1,5 %; restaurants and hotels by 0,1 %. Prices of communications remained at the level of May.

Higher prices of food by 0,5 % were affected by higher prices of fruit by 7 %; oils and fats by 1,6 %; meat by 1 %; bread and cereals; food products n.e.c. equally by 0,4 %. Prices of vegetables (including potatoes) decreased by 3,5 %; sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary by 0,5 %; fish; milk, cheese and eggs equally by 0,1 %. Prices of non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1,6 % (mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 1,7 %, coffee, tea and cocoa by 1,3 %).

Price increase of fruit was affected by higher prices of red watermelons by 31 %, tangerines by 16,1 %, table grapes by 12 %, kiwi by 11,5 %, lemons by 6 %, bananas by 5,7 %, oranges by 0,8 %, apples by 0,4 %. Higher prices of meat were caused by rise in prices of pork meat by 3 %, sausages by 1,4 %, beef meat by 0,1 %. Prices of poultry decreased by 0,7 %. Lower prices of vegetables were affected by price fall of white cabbage by 19,6 %, tomatoes by 17,7 %, pepper by 16,7 %, cauliflower by 15,7 %, salad cucumbers by 11,2 %, garlic by 1,1 %. Prices of celery increased by 21,3 %, onion by 8,1 %, parsley by 8 %, carrot by 6,5 %, potatoes by 4,4 %.

Higher prices in the division of alcoholic beverages and tobacco were affected by rise in prices of alcoholic beverages by 0,3 % (prices of spirits, wine increased equally by 0,7 %, prices of beer dropped by 0,3 %). Prices of tobacco remained unchanged.

Higher prices in the division of clothing and footwear were affected by increase in prices of clothing by 0,3 %; prices of footwear decreased by 0,4 %.

Higher prices in the division of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were affected by increase in prices of other services relating to the dwelling by 0,5 %; actual rentals paid by tenants by 0,4 %;  services related to maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0,2 %; materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0,1 %. Prices of imputed rentals of owner-occupiers; water supply; refuse collection; sewage collection; electricity; gas; solid fuels; heat energy remained at the last month´s level.

Higher prices in the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by rise in prices of furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings by 0,8 %; glassware, tableware and household utensils by 0,5 %; household textiles by 0,1 %. Prices of tools and equipment for house and garden decreased by 0,6 %; household appliances by 0,2 %. Prices of goods and services for routine household maintenance remained unchanged.

Higher prices in the health division were influenced by growing prices of hospital services by 0,4 %; outpatient services by 0,2 % (dental services by 0,2 %,  prices of middle medical staff services – thermal bath by 0,1 %, prices of medical services remained unchanged); medical products, medical appliances and equipment by 0,1 % (prices of therapeutic appliances and equipment increased by 0,3 %, pharmaceutical products by 0,1 %, prices of other medical products decreased by 0,1 %).


Price cut in transport was caused by decreasing prices in operation of personal transport equipment by 3,8 % (prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment decreased by 5 %, prices of other services related to personal transport equipment increased by 1,2 %, maintenance and repair by 0,7 %, spare parts and accessories by 0,5 %). Prices of  transport services increased by 1 % (passenger transport by air by 9,3 %, passenger transport by road by 0,1 %, prices of  other purchase transport services remained unchanged); purchase of transport equipment by 0,1 % (prices of new motor vehicles by 0,3 %).

In the division of communication, prices of postal, telephone services remained unchanged. Prices of telephone equipment rose by 0,5 %.

Higher prices in the division of recreation and culture were affected by growth in prices of package holidays by 2,8 %; other major durable goods for recreation and culture – musical instruments; other recreational items and equipment for gardens and pets equally by 0,5 %; newspapers, books and stationary by 0,2 %; recreational services and culture by 0,1 %. Prices of audio visual and photographic technology decreased by 0,7 %.

Higher prices in the education division were affected by growing prices of tertiary education by 0,5 % (fee for university entrance examination by 1,3 %); education not definable by the level by 0,1 % (fee for language course by 0,3 %). Prices of pre-primary; primary; secondary education remained unchanged.

Higher prices in the division of restaurants and hotels were influenced by cut in prices of accommodation services by 2,6 %. Prices of catering services rose by 0,3 % (in restaurants, cafes by 0,4 %, prices in canteens, payment for meals in canteens for pensioners remained unchanged).

Price growth in the division of miscellaneous goods and services was influenced by higher prices of insurance by 2,3 % (prices of insurance relating to the health by 3,6 %, compulsory contractual motor car insurance by 3,3 %; accident insurance of motor vehicles by 2,8 %); personal care; personal effects n.e.c.; financial services n.e.c. equally by 0,2 % (financial services provided by banks by 0,2 %); social protection (payment in social service facilities, payment for nursing services equally by 0,1 %, payment in day care facilities decreased by 0,4 %); other services n.e.c. equally by 0,1 %.


In June 2019 compared with June 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,6 % in total. Prices increased in the divisions of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 4,1 %; restaurants and hotels by 4 %; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 3,9 %; miscellaneous goods and service; communications equally by 3 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,3 %; health by 2,1 %; recreation and culture by 1,6 %; education by 1,4 %; furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 1,3 %; clothing and footwear by 1 %. Prices of transport dropped by 2,3 %.

On average, over the first half of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,5 % in total.

In June compared with May, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees, in households of pensioners and in low-income households equally by 0,1%.

In June 2019, index of consumer prices increased, year-on-year, in households of employees by 2,5 %, households of pensioners by 3,1 % and in low-income households by 2,7 %.

On average, over the first half of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees by 2,4 %, in household of pensioners by 2,9 % and in low-income households by 2,6 %.
