Turnover increased, month-on-month, in accommodation by 11,4 %, in food and beverage activities by 10,2 % and in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1,6 %. It decreased in retail trade by 1,9 % and in wholesale by 1,6 %.
Development in May 2019 compared with May 2018
Turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, year-on-year, by 6,8 %, affected by a higher turnover in sale of motor vehicles by 10,1 % and in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 0,9 %. Turnover decreased in repair and maintenance by 3,2 %.
Compared with May 2018, turnover in wholesale fell by 0,8 %, in total. A decrease was in wholesale on a fee or contract basis by 15,9 % and in other specialized wholesale by 6,5 %. Turnover increased in other activities, most significantly in wholesale of machinery, equipment and supplies by 20,2 %, wholesale of household goods by 6,1 % and in non-specialized wholesale by 4,3 %.
Turnover in retail trade decreased, year-on-year, by 2,7 %. The development was affected by a lower turnover in retail sale of information and communication technologies by 8,6 %, retail sale in non-specialized stores by 5,1 %, retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 4,1 % and in retail sale of other household goods in specialized stores by 2,6 %. Turnover rose, year-on-year, mainly in retail sale of recreational and cultural goods by 22,2 % and in retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores by 14,6 %.
Turnover in accommodation increased by 24,7 % in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
Turnover in food and beverage service activities was higher by 16,5 %.
Development over the first five months of 2019 compared with the corresponding period of 2018
Turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 7,5 % as a result of the growth in sale of motor vehicles by 8,6 %, in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 11,9 % and in repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 3,2 %.
Total turnover in wholesale increased by 3,4 % as a result of the turnover growth in almost all activities, mainly in wholesale of machinery, equipment and supplies by 12,8 %, wholesale of household goods by 8,3 %, non-specialized wholesale by 5,2 %, wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco by 4,9 %. The turnover decrease was only in wholesale on a fee or contract basis by 5,5 %.
Turnover in retail trade increased by 0,2 %. The increase was related to the turnover growth registered mainly in retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores by 16 %, retail sale not in stores, stalls or markets by 7,2 % and in retail sale of automotive fuels in specialized stores by 6,9 %. Turnover decreased most significantly in retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 4,4 %.
Turnover in accommodation increased by 8,3 %.
Turnover in food and beverage service activities rose by 11,4 %.
