In March 2019, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 7 197,8 million with a 3,4 % year-on-year increase. The total import of goods rose by 6,1 % to EUR 6 855,2 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the value of EUR 342,6 million (by EUR 161,4 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-March 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, the total export of goods increased by 7,8 % to EUR 20 643,5 million and the total import by 6,9 % to EUR 19 670,5 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 973,1 million (by EUR 220 million higher than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-March 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the EU Member States increased by 4,3 % and it represented 83,9 % of the total export. Import from the EU Member States represented 68,7 % of the total import and it grew by 12,5 %, year-on-year.
In January-March 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the non-EU countries increased by 30,8 % and it represented 16,1 % of the total export. Import from the non-EU countries represented 31,3 % of the total import and it decreased by 3,5 %, year-on-year.
In the foreign trade of the SR, the most traded SITC section was Machinery and transport equipment with a share of 62 % of the total export and 50,3 % of the total import.
In March 2019, after seasonal adjustment, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 837,2 million with a year-on-year growth by 3,8 %. The total import of goods increased by 6,6 % to EUR 6 673,8 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 163,5 million (by EUR 163,9 million lower than in March 2018).
