Employment increased in October only in selected market services, in other sectors there was a year-on-year decline, the negative development continued to be the most pronounced in accommodation and food and beverage services. The development of wages was more favorable, a decrease was recorded only in accommodation and construction.
Employment
Compared to October 2019, employment in October 2020 increased only in selected market services, even only slightly by 0,6 %. It decreased in accommodation by 21,3 %, in restaurants and beverage activities by 9,4 %, in construction by 8,3 %, in industry by 6 %, in wholesale by 5,1 %, in retail trade by 2,3 %, in transport and storage by 2 %, sale and repair of motor vehicles by 1,8 % and in information and communication activities by 0,1 %.
On average in the first ten months of 2020, compared to the corresponding period in 2019, employment increased only in information and communication activities by 3,4 %. It decreased in accommodation by 11,9 %, in restaurants and beverage activities by 7,4 %, in industry and construction equally by 5,6 %, in retail trade by 3,7 %, in wholesale trade by 3,6 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2,2 %, selected market services by 1,3 % and transport and storage by 0,7 %.
Average monthly wage
The average nominal monthly wage increased in October 2020 compared with October 2019 in wholesale by 9,6 % (it reached EUR 1 125), retail trade by 7,6 % (EUR 835), restaurant and beverage service activities by 5,6 % ( EUR 549), selected market services by 3,3 % (EUR 1 046), information and communication activities by 2,7 % (EUR 1 906), sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2 % (EUR 1 068), industry by 1,8 % (EUR 1 163), transport and storage by 0,9 % (EUR 1039). It decreased only in accommodation by 8 % (EUR 717) and in construction by 0,4 % (EUR 766).
The average real monthly wage in October 2020, rose year-on-year in wholesale by 7,9 %, retail trade by 5,9 %, activities of restaurants and beverage services by 3,9 %, in selected market services by 1,7 %, information and communication activities by 1,1 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 0,4 % and in industry by 0,2 %. It decreased the most in accommodation by 9,4 %, it fell also in construction by 2 % and in transportation and storage by 0,7 %.
On average in the first ten months of 2020 compared to the corresponding period of 2019, wages increased in retail trade by 5,5 % (reached EUR 802), wholesale by 4,8 % (EUR 1 072), restaurant and beverage service activities by 3,9 % (EUR 534), information and communication activities by 2,1 % (EUR 1 985), selected market services by 1,9 % (EUR 1 027), construction by 1,1 % (EUR 744) and industry by 0,4 % (EUR 1 135). It decreased in accommodation by 8,9 % (EUR 705), in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 0,4 % (EUR 1 035) and in transportation and storage by 0,2 % ( EUR 1 011).
The real monthly wage rose year-on-year, only in retail sale by 3,4 %, in wholesale by 2,7 % and in restaurants and beverage service activities by 1,9 %,in information and communication activities by 0,1 %. It dropped in accommodation by 10,7 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2,4 %, in transportation and storage by 2,2 %, in industry by 0,9 % and in selected market services by 0,1 %.
