Industry began to lag behind more, production reached lower value than a year ago by 2,5 % in October.
A year-on-year downward rate in industrial production increased in October, industry produced lower value than a year ago by 2,5 %. Manufacture of transport equipment decreased by 4,7 %, a decline was reflected in nine of the 15 groupings of industry.
In October, compared to October 2019, industrial production was by 2,5 % lower year-on-year in the SR. After five months, when the industry narrowed its year-on-year lagging behind caused by a suspension of production during the first wave of the pandemic (in April), a performance slowed down slightly.
Among the 15 monitored groupings of industry 1) - sectors, or their special groupings in nine of them, production volume lagged behind the last year's level and higher performance than the last year was reflected in six.
As for the special groupings of industries that contributed the most to the total decline in production, the most significant decrease was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 4,7 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 7,9 %, other manufacture by 15,6 %. The result was also significantly affected by lower year-on-year production in manufacture of coke and petroleum products by 21,6 %. In total, compared to October last year, a decrease of more than 15 % was recorded in four sectors, the largest of which was in manufacture of textiles and leather that recorded a drop of 27,7 %.
A more significant decline in total industries was slowed down by the groupings that achieved a year-on-year growth. An increase in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 12,8 % and in manufacture of metal by 4 % was the most significant of these groupings.
According to the main industrial groupings, production of non-durable goods decreased by 10,4%, production of durable goods by 8,2 % and production of capital goods by 6,1 % compared to October 2019. Production related to energy was higher by 5,5 % and production for intermediate consumption by 1,3 %.
After seasonal adjustment, industrial production decreased by 1,1 % in October 2020, compared to September 2020.
In summary, since the beginning of the year, IP decreased by 11,6 % year-on-year, of which in manufacturing by 14,2 %. Production increased in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 4,9 % and in mining and quarrying by 6,3 %.
As for the special groupings of industries that contributed the most to the total decline in production, the most significant decrease was in the manufacture of transport equipment by 20,5 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 15,6 % and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products by 11,8 %. Production increased in electricity and gas supply by 4,9 %, in manufacture of coke and petroleum products by 11,1 % and in mining and quarrying by 6,3 %.
According to the main industrial groupings, the production of durable goods decreased by 20 %, production of capital goods by 18,7 %, production of consumer durables by 10,6 % and production for intermediate consumption by 9 %. Production related to energy was higher by 5,1 %.
