Turnover increased, month-on-month, in accommodation by 1,3 % and in food and beverage service activities by 0,9 %. It decreased in wholesale by 1,9 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1 % and in retail sale by 0,3 %.
Development in August 2019 compared with August 2018
In August 2019, turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, year-on-year, by 2,1 %. It increased in sale of motor vehicles by 2,5 % and in sale of parts and accessories of motor vehicles by 17 %. In maintenance of motor vehicles it decreased by 9,3 %, year-on-year.
In August after the previous month´s increase, turnover in wholesale decreased again, by 4,7 %, year-on-year. The decrease was affected by lower turnover almost in all activities, most considerably in other specialized wholesale by 7,3 %, in wholesale on a fee or contract basis by 6,1 % and in non-specialized wholesale by 4,1 %. Turnover increased only in wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco.
Turnover in retail trade decreased, year-on-year, for the third consecutive month, compared with August 2018, it decreased by 2,9 %. The development was affected by lower turnover mostly in retail sale in non-specialized stores by 5,3 %, retail trade not in stores, stalls or markets by 5,4 % and in retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 1 %. Turnover was higher year-on-year mainly in retail sale of other household goods in specialized stores.
Turnover in accommodation increased by 20,6 % in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
Turnover in food and beverage service activities continued to increase, in August 2019, it was higher by 17,7 %.
Development over the eight months of 2019 compared with the corresponding period of 2018
Turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 5,8 % as a result of an increase in sale of motor vehicles by 6,6 %, in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 12,4 % and in repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 1,4 %.
Turnover in wholesale increased by 0,9 %. The development was affected by higher turnover mainly in wholesale of household goods by 6,1 %, wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco products by 3,2 % and in wholesale of machinery and equipment by 6,5 %. A turnover decrease was in wholesale on a fee or contract basis, in other specialized wholesale and in wholesale of ICT equipment.
Turnover in retail trade decreased year-on-year by 0,4 % due to lower turnover in retail sale in non-specialized stores by 2,5 %, in retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 2,7 % and in retail sale of ICT in specialized stores by 6 %. In other activities the turnover increased, most considerably in retail sale of automotive fuels in specialized stores.
Turnover in accommodation increased by 12,1 %.
Turnover in food and beverage service activities rose by 15,6 %.
