In June, industrial production decreased by 2,1 %, year-on-year, and reached the lowest level since April 2017. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by a fall in manufacturing by 4,1 % and by an increase in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 15,1 % and in mining and quarrying by 10,9 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production decrease, the most significant decrease was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 7,6 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 51,7 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 11,7 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 8,6 % and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 33,2 %. The total production was affected mostly by a rise in manufacture of electrical equipment by 24,8 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 15,1 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 13,9 % %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 12,7 % and in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 7,5 %.

Compared with June 2018, in terms of the main industrial groupings, production of durable consumer goods decreased by 6,5 %,  production of intermediate goods by 4,9 %, production relating to energy by 1,2 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 0,5 %. Production of investment goods remained unchanged.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production decreased by 1,4 % in June 2019 compared with May 2019.

Since the beginning of the year, IP increased, year-on-year, by 4,9 %, of which in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10,8 %, in manufacturing by 4,2 % and in mining and quarrying by 1,2 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 11,9 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 20,3 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10,8 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 19,7 % and in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 7,8 %. Production decreased mostly in manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 9,4 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 5,4 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 14,1 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and related products by 14,6 % and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 9,8 %.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 13,6 %, production relating to energy by 5,8 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 1,6 %.  Production of durable consumer goods dropped by 4,7 % and production of intermediate goods by 3,1 %.


Note: industrial production represents volume production changes in its natural expression. Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by program JDEMETRA+ and during processing of every month they are back-casted from the beginning of the time series. In June 2019, compared with the corresponding period in 2018 and also from the beginning of the year, the number of working days was lower by one day.
