Turnover in selected sectors of economy in March 2019

Development in March 2019 in comparison with February 2019 1)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in information and communication by 4,2 %, selected market services by 2,3 %, construction by 0,1 %. It decreased in transportation and storage by 2,3 % and in industry by 1,1 %.

 Development in March 2019 compared with March 2018

Turnover in industry increased by 9,3 %. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 28,2 %; in manufacturing by 12,1 %, mining and quarrying by 5,4 %; and by decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 18,2 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 10,1 %, manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 21,8 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 24,9 % and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 28,5 %. Turnover decreased in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 2,7 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 1,2 % and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 17,4 %.

Turnover in construction increased by 7,3 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage 2) increased by 4,1 %. The development was affected by a rise in all activities, mostly in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 7,7 %, land transport and transport via pipelines by 1,3 % and in water transport by 44,1 %.

Turnover in information and communication 3) increased, year-on-year, by 13,5 % affected mostly by higher turnover in computer programming by 17,3 %, telecommunications by 6,4 % and in information service activities by 11,8 %. Turnover dropped only in programming and broadcasting activities.

In selected market services 4), total turnover increased by 16,3 %. Turnover rose in all activities of selected market services, mostly in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 17,5 %, gambling and betting activities by 14,8 % and in real estate activities by 13,1 %.

Development over the first three months of 2019 in comparison with the same period in 2018

Total turnover in industry increased by 11,9 %. The development by the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 23,9 %; manufacturing by 14,9 %; mining and quarrying by 9 % and by drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, turnover increased most considerably in manufacture of transport equipment by 28,6 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 10,8 %, manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 19,2 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 20,1 % and in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 6,8 %. Turnover decreased, year-on-year, only in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2 %,  manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 2,4 %, manufacture of chemical and chemical products by 2,1 % and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 6,1 %.

Turnover in construction enterprises increased by 6,3 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage rose, year-on-year, by 6,5 % affected by higher turnover in all activities. It increased most considerably in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 12,7 %, land transport and transport via pipelines by 1,4 % and in postal and courier activities by 9,3 %.

Total turnover in information and communication increased by 9,8 %. It rose, year-on-year, in all activities, most considerably in telecommunication by 12 %, computer programming by 8,3 % and in  information service activities by 9,8 %.

In selected market services4), turnover increased by 10,4 %. Increase was affected by higher turnover in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 18,7 %, gambling and betting activities by 9,5 % and legal and accounting activities by 8,4 %. Turnover dropped only in architectural and engineering activities.
