Development of consumer prices in July 2019

In July compared with  June consumer prices increased by 0,1 % in total.  Prices rose in the divisions of communications by 2 %, recreation and culture by 1,1 % transport by 0,6 % furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; restaurants and hotels equally by 0,2 %, miscellaneous goods and services by 0,1 %. Prices of health dropped by 1,1 %; clothing and footwear by 0,8 %, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,3 %, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0,1 %. Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco and education remained at the level of the previous month.

Decrease of  food prices by 0,2 % was affected by lower prices of vegetables (including potatoes) by 3,6 % fruit by 1,5 % oils and fats by 1,3 %, milk, cheese and eggs by 0,1 %. Prices of meat increased by 1 %, fish by 0,9 %, sugars, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary by 0,5 %, bread and cereals, food products n.e.c. equally by 0,1 %.  Prices of non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1,4 % (mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 2,2 %, coffee, tea and cocoa by 0,4 %).

Lower prices of vegetables were caused by drop in prices of white cabbage by 16,9 %, pepper by 11,1 %, onions by 10,3 %, potatoes by 8,5 %, carrot by 8,3 %, cauliflower by 5,2 %, cucumbers by 0,9 %. Prices of celery rose by 6,8 %, parsley by 6,7 %, garlic by 1,5 %, tomatoes by 0,7 %. Lower prices of fruit were affected by a price drop of watermelons by 23,7 %, bananas by 8,5 %. Prices of kiwi rose by 12,9 %, oranges by 6,8 %, table grapes by 4,8 %, lemons by 3,2 %, tangerines by 2,2 %, apples by 1,4 %. Higher prices of meat were caused by price increase of poultry, sausages equally by 1 %, pork meat by 0,5 %. Prices of beef meat remained unchanged.

In the division  of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, prices of alcoholic beverages (prices of beer increased by 1,3 %, prices of wine decreased by 1 %, spirits by 0,6 %) and tobacco remained unchanged.

Lower prices in the division of clothing and footwear were affected by a decrease in prices of footwear by 1,2 %; clothing by 0,6 %.

Lower prices in the division of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were affected by a price decrease of solid fuels by 0,4 %; imputed rentals of owner-occupiers by 0,3 %. Prices of materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling increased by 0,2 %, prices of actual rentals paid by tenants, services related to  maintenance and repair of the dwelling; refuse collection equally by 0,1 %. Prices of water supply, sewage collection; other services relating to the dwelling; electricity; gas; heat energy remained at the level of June.

Higher prices in the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by rise in prices of furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings by 0,7 %, tools and equipment for house and garden by 0,4 %; household textiles by 0,3 %. There was a price decrease of household appliances, glassware, tableware and household utensils and goods and services for routine household maintenance equally by 0,1 %.

Drop in prices in the health division was influenced by lower prices of medical products, medical appliances and equipment by 1,7 % (prices of pharmaceutical products decreased by 1,8 %, prices of other medical products increased by 0,5 %; therapeutic appliances and equipment by 0,3 %). Prices of outpatient services rose by 0,1 % (medical services by 0,2 %, prices of dental services, prices of middle medical staff services – thermal bath remained unchanged). Hospital services were unchanged.

Price increase in  transport was caused by higher prices of transport service activities by 1,3 % (prices of passenger transport by air increased by 11,1 %, prices of other purchase transport service activities by 0,2 %, prices of passenger transport by road remained unchanged); operation of personal transport equipment by 1,1 %  (fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment; other services related to personal transport equipment equally by 1,3 %, maintenance and repair by 0,1 %, prices of spare parts and accessories were unchanged). Prices of purchase of transport equipment decreased by 1,1 % (second-hand motor vehicles by 2,1 %, new motor vehicles by 0,2 %).

Higher prices in the division of communication were affected by growth of prices of postal services by 24,7 %; telephone equipment by 0,1 %. Prices of telephone services remained unchanged.

Higher prices in the division of recreation and culture were affected by an increase in prices of package holidays by 8 %, recreational services and culture; newspapers, books and stationary equally by 0,1 %. Prices of other recreational items and equipment for gardens and pets decreased by 0,3 %; audiovisual and photographic technology by 0,1 %. Prices of other major durable goods for recreation and culture – musical instruments remained at the level of June.

In the education division, prices of pre-primary; primary; secondary; tertiary education; education not definable by level remained at the level of the previous month.

Higher prices in the division of restaurants and hotels were influenced by increase in prices of accommodation services by 0,2 %; catering services by 0,1 % (prices of payment for meals in canteens for pensioners rose by 0,4 %, in restaurants, cafes by 0,3 %, prices in canteens dropped by 0,2 %).

Increase in prices in the division of miscellaneous goods and services was influenced by higher prices of financial services n.e.c. by 1,1 % (financial services provided by mail by 13,4 %); social protection by 1 % (payment in social service facilities increased by 1,2 %, payment for care service by 0,3 %, payment in day care center decreased by 0,3 %), insurance by 0,2 % (compulsory automobile insurance by 0,6 %); personal effects n.e.c.; other services n.e.c equally by 0,1 %. Prices of personal care dropped by 0,1 %.

In July 2019 compared with  July 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,9 % in total. Prices increased in the divisions of communication by 5 %, food and non-alcoholic beverages by 4,7 %; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 3,8 %; restaurants and hotels by 3,7 %; miscellaneous goods and services by 3,6 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,7 %; recreation and culture by 1,8 %; furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 1,5 %; education by 1,4 %; clothing and footwear by 1,3 %; health by 0,8 %. Prices of transport dropped by 1,5 %. 

On average, over the first seven months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,5 % in total. 

In July compared with June, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees and low-income households equally by 0,1 %, it remained unchanged in households of pensioners.

In July 2019, index of consumer prices increased, year-on-year, in households of  employees by 2,8 %, households of pensioners by 3,3 % and in low-income households by 3 %.

 
On  average, over the first seven months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees by 2,4 %, in household of pensioners by 2,9 % and in low-income households by 2,6 %.
