Access to confidential statistical data for scientific purposes shall be approved for research entities, in particular to:
- universities and other higher education institutions,
- scientific research organizations or institutions.
Doctoral students or researchers should request access through the research entity who is their employer.
The SOSR can provide access to confidential statistical data:
- through data submission to research entities,
- through access to the Data research center (DRC).
The Statistical Office of the SR individually approves each approach while the applicant shall:
- submit or send to info@statistics.sk, or to contact address via mail correctly filled Research proposal application form (doc 176 kB)
- sign a contract for the provision of confidential statistical data for scientific purposes between the research entity and the Office, specifying the conditions for access to the data, the obligations of the parties, the arrangements for ensuring statistical confidentiality and the penalties for breaching these rules;
- in case of granting consent to accessing the data, follow the specific instructions for working with confidential statistical data of which he will be informed.
Specificities of work in the DRC:
- Researchers working with micro-data in the DRC are instructed on how to generate such outputs that will not violate statistical confidentiality and they will be provided to them upon completion of their research work.
- Micro-data disclosed in the DRC have only direct identifiers removed, other methods of protecting confidential statistical data are applied to outputs generated by researchers if necessary.
- Micro-data available in the DRC have a higher information value than micro-data sent directly to research institutions.
