BREXIT and the INTRASTAT-SK statistical surveys

Last update: 20.02.2020

On 31 January 2020, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (hereinafter referred to as the UK) decided to withdraw from the EU by adopting a withdrawal agreement. Under this agreement, the UK has become the third country since 1 February 2020.

By the Brexit with a withdrawal agreement, in the INTRASTAT-SK system, in which the arrivals and dispatches from and to the EU during the transition period are reported, i.e. from 1 February 2020 to 31 December 2020, there will be no changes for the reporting units:

  • The same rules will apply as if the UK was an EU Member State.
  • Reporting units will report arrivals and dispatches of goods from and to the UK on the INTRASTAT-SK declarations.
  • The processing of foreign trade statistics including estimates and imputations will be carried out using standard procedures.

Expiry of the transition period will have an impact on some statistical processes, including the calculation of the 2021 reporting duty. The reporting units will be informed in time on further proceedings, on this web page.
