Methodological notes to data on internal trade
The sector of internal trade includes entities whose main activity belongs to the NACE Rev. 2 divisions 45, 46, 47 as well as 55, 56.
Wholesale, retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE Rev. 2 division 45) includes entities whose main activity is one of the following: sale of motor vehicles, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories, sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and related parts and accessories.
Wholesale trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE Rev. 2 division 46) includes entities whose main activity is one of the following: wholesale on fee or contract basis, wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals, wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco, wholesale of household goods, wholesale of information and communication equipment, wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies, other specialised wholesale and non-specialised wholesale.
Retail trade except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE Rev. 2 division 47) includes entities whose main activity is one of the following: retail sale in non-specialised stores, retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores, retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores, retail sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores, retail sale of other household equipment in specialised stores, retail sale of cultural and recreation goods in specialised stores, retail sale of other goods in specialised stores, retail sale via stalls and markets and retail sale not in stores, stalls or markets.
Accommodation (NACE Rev. 2 division 55) includes entities whose main activity is one of the following: hotels and similar accommodation, tourist and other short-stay accommodation, camping grounds, recreational vehicle parks and trailer parks and other accommodation.
Food and beverage service activities (NACE Rev. 2 division 56) include entities whose main activity is one of the following: restaurants and mobile food service, event catering and other food service activities and beverage serving activities.
Monthly (preliminary) data
The SO SR collects data for enterprises registered in the Business Register or subsidized organizations from the monthly reports (Monthly report in trade, food and beverage service activities and accommodation OPU 1-12):
- with 20 or more employees - exhaustively
- with up to 19 employees
- if their annual turnover reached EUR 5 million or more - exhaustively
- if the annual turnover did not exceed EUR 5 million - selectively
- Data for self-employed persons are estimated.
Monthly data of the last quarter are preliminary and are are adjusted quarterly on the base of processing quarterly reports (Quarterly Report of Production Industries Prod3-04).
Annual (definitive) data
The SO SR releases annual definitive data approximately 9 months after the end of the reference period. It collects them from the data of annual statistical reports (Annual report of production industries in trade, food and beverage service activities and accommodation Roč OPU 1-01 and Annual report of production industries in small enterprises in trade, food and beverage service activities and accommodation Roč OPU 2-01).
The published indices express the year-on-year change (same period last year = 100), while the indices of turnover in wholesale are at current prices, the other indices of turnover are at constant prices compared to the average of 2021.
Definitions:
Turnover includes all receipts from self-manufactured goods and services and receipts for goods, which are conducted by an enterprise for all its activities. Data are aggregated in accordance with main economic activity of enterprises and are without value added tax.
Average number of employed persons includes average registered number of employees and self-employed persons.
Average number of employees in natural persons includes permanent and temporary employees who have a contract of employment or service with the employing organisation regardless they were really at work or not, e.g. due to illness, recovery holidays etc. and also the employees who were not working e.g. due to work stoppage, strikes or disputes as well as part-time employees who had their working time not divided into each working day and the employees carried out the work only occasionally on call or by needs of organisation. Excluded are persons on maternity leave, apprentices and students in practice, private entrepreneurs and their associates, persons with the agreement on work performed outside an employment relationship.
Average monthly wage is an amount of wage expenditures per employees as a remuneration for work or its compensationon the basis of legal relationships (work, service or membership relation) to the employer. It is a gross wage, including legal or with employee agreed deductions. Data are without business incomes.
