The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as the "Office") is willing to comply with the provisions on the protection of personal data set out in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the personal data processing and on the free movement of such data and in Act No. 18/2018 Coll. personal data protection and on amendments to certain acts (hereinafter referred to as the "Act").
The Office pays special attention to respecting the privacy of users who visit the internet portal https://slovak.statistics.sk.
The Office, as the controller, has designated (in accordance with Article 37 of the Regulation and Section 44 of the Act) a responsible person who performs the tasks specified in Article 39 of the Regulation and Section 46 of the Act and who can be contacted by the data subject with questions regarding the processing of his or her personal data and the exercise of his or her rights under the Regulation and the Act.

Purpose of personal data processing
Personal data is processed by the Office for the purposes of
- performance of state statistics (the legal basis is Act No. 540/2001 Coll. on State Statistics, as amended and the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU)),
- fulfillment of other legal obligations (the legal basis is, for example, Act No. 211/2000 Coll. on free access to information, Act No. 395/2002 Coll. on archives and registries and other special acts)
- implementation of contractual relations with customers and data users, e.g. in provision of statistical information and data, etc.,
- provision of services to its own employees.
Categories of personal data affected
The Office processes personal data whose processing results from special regulations (generally binding legal regulations and international treaties by which the Slovak Republic is bound) and personal data necessary for concluding contracts with data subjects.
Legal bases for processing personal data
The legal bases for processing personal data are:

- the consent of the data subject (Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation) – processing of certain personal data of our own employees and their family members, satisfaction surveys,
- Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation b) of the Regulation – processing of personal data of its own employees (data subjects) which is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party or in order to take measures prior to the conclusion of a contract at the request of the data subject,
- fulfilment of a legal obligation of the controller (Article 6(1)(c) of the Regulation) – performance of state statistics, performance of tasks prescribed by special regulations (generally binding legal regulations and international treaties to which the Slovak Republic is bound),
- performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller (Article 6(1)(e) of the Regulation) – fulfillment of tasks arising from special regulations,
- legitimate interests of the controller (Article 6(1)(f) of the Regulation) – processing of personal data of data subjects by camera systems in the administration office, sending promotional materials and informing about the products of the Statistical Office of the SR.
Transfer of personal data
The personal data obtained are not transferred by the Office to the third countries, but may be transferred to recipients (competent state authorities and persons) who have the right to request this information on the basis of special regulations.
Retention period of personal data
Personal data will be processed by the Office for the period during which the Office is obliged or authorized according to special regulations to process such data, or for the period strictly necessary to ensure mutual rights and obligations arising from the contractual obligation. After that time, the Office shall ensure the deletion of the personal data processed.
Rights of the persons concerned
The persons concerned have the right to request access from the Office to personal data concerning them and have the right to rectification or erasure or restriction of processing, or the right to object to processing, as well as the right to data portability, and the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority (Personal Data Protection Office of the Slovak Republic) and to file a motion to initiate proceedings pursuant to Section 100 of the Act. Data subjects may exercise their rights with the controller (Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, Lamačská cesta 3/C, 840 05 Bratislava) or with the supervisory authority (Personal Data Protection Office of the Slovak Republic) if it concerns the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority and the right to file a motion to initiate proceedings pursuant to Section 100 of the Act.
The processing of personal data of data subjects for statistical purposes is carried out on the basis of special regulations. Therefore, the provision of personal data is a legal requirement.
In case of processing of personal data other than for statistical purposes, information on whether the data subject is obliged to provide personal data, as well as the possible consequences of not providing such data, is provided to the data subjects individually before their personal data processing.
Automated decision-making and profiling
The Office does not carry out automated decision-making and profiling.
To ensure the protection of processed personal data, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic has adopted technical and organizational security measures, which it has documented in the Directive "Protection of Personal Data within the Scope of the Statistical Office of the SR"
