Data publication of the foreign trade statistics

The foreign trade statistics for a relevant month are released in two steps, summary data till 6 week after the end of reference month at the latest and detailed data 74 days after the end of reference month at the latest. The precise release dates are announced on the Internet website of the Statistical Office of the SR in Release Calendar.

Data on value of imported and exported electricity are estimated on the basis of data on physical flows of electricity since 2005.

Data on foreign trade published by the Statistical Office of the SR are compiled based on the national concept:

In accordance with internationally effective methodology of presentation of foreign trade statistics, data are published according to the country of origin (as for the total import) and the country of destination (in the total export).

Values of the total import and export are compiled as FOB type values, i.e. they included a transactional value of goods and value of services (e.g. transport, insurance, transfer, storage of goods etc.) performed to deliver the goods to the border of exporting country.

Values of goods of temporary transactions are not included into the value of foreign trade. From the 1st January 2005, values of goods for repair and after repair and the associated replacement parts (according to the Article 2 of Commission Regulation No 1982/2004) are also excluded from foreign trade statistics.

Value of goods which were only cleared in the Slovak Republic are also not included in the value of foreign trade with non-member countries, effective since 2007 (value of indirect imports and exports, i.e. imports destinated for another member state and exports dispatched from another member state).

Data on foreign trade of Slovakia published by Eurostat are compiled based on the EU concept.

Data are published according to the country of origin concerning the import from non-member states and the country of consignment concerning the import form the EU member States. The export is released according to the country of destination.

The value of import is compiled as CIF type value, where the value of services (e.g. transport, insurance, transfer, storage of goods etc.) performed to deliver the goods to the border of the Slovak Republic is added to the transactional value of goods. The value of export is compiled as FOB type value, i.e. it includes the transactional value of goods and the value of services performed to deliver the goods to the border of the Slovak Republic.

Values of goods of temporary transactions are not included in the value of foreign trade. From the 1st January 2005, values of goods for repair and after repair and the associated replacement part (according to the Article 2 of Commission Regulation No 1982/2004) are also excluded from the statistics relating to the trading of goods between Member States (Intrastat). Value of goods which were only cleared in the Slovak Republic are also included in the value of foreign trade with non-member countries, effective since 2007 (value of indirect imports and exports, i.e. imports destinated for another member state and exports dispatched from another member state).

Revised data for previous months are always released when they become available, i.e. without regard to a size of change of the value of import/export.
