Retail trade experienced another year-on-year turnover drop in February 2026, affecting most segments of the sector.

Slovak retail trade began 2026 with a nearly 4% turnover drop. This was caused by a real decrease in turnover in as many as 6 of the 9 components of the sector.

Weaker pre-Christmas shopping activity contributed to an annual decline in retail turnover of more than 1%. A real decline was recorded by the majority–6 out of 9–of retail segments.
